Blue Ridge Hunting Turns Appalachian Folklore Into Co-op Terror

Investigate, document, and hunt cryptid legends in the debut game from developer Jade Meadows

[Washington, DC - October 31, 2025] Have you ever seen something you couldn't explain, like there was something lurking in the shadows? You're not alone... Six One Publishing is proud to present Blue Ridge Hunting, an online co-op horror adventure where you and your friends investigate, document, and hunt cryptids in the Appalachian Mountains. The Appalachian Investigation Group is now hiring, so join the search for cryptids by supporting Blue Ridge Hunting on Kickstarter and start your training in the debut demo.

The Appalachian Mountains are home to some of the most infamous cryptids, creatures, and folklore in America. Based on real sightings, phenomena, and legends from the region, join the Appalachian Investigation Group and use a variety of tools and items to collect evidence and track down these creatures. Get paid for successful hunts and invest your earnings in better gear. But be careful, as creatures are always listening and watching. Use proximity voice chat and your radio to communicate with one another, but try not to draw too much attention...

Unique in the co-op horror genre, Blue Ridge Hunting will feature a full story mode at its 1.0 launch. Players will follow the journey of Levi Chambers, a disgruntled West Virginia native haunted by sightings of the infamous Mothman his entire life. Set off with Levi across Appalachia to uncover the truth, encountering a wide cast of characters, terrifying monsters, and unforgettable stories along the way.

The game explores themes of generational trauma, grief, and family told through the unique lens of Appalachian folklore. Developer Jade Meadows set out to create a love letter to the region's culture, celebrating the community and resilience of West Virginia while also acknowledging the more painful parts of its history.

Field Notes:

  • Found Footage: A gritty retro/PSX art style inspired by early 3D horror and analog media.

  • Always Listening: Creatures react to proximity voice chat and radio chatter. Communication is crucial, but dangerous.

  • Into the Woods, Solo or Together: Explore the Appalachian wilds alone or with up to 5 players in online co-op freeplay mode.

  • Bump In The Night: A narrative-driven story (1–3 players) following the Appalachian Investigation Group's hunt for the truth.

  • Experience The Legends: Face unique, intelligent creatures based on real Appalachian legends and folklore.

  • Dark-Bluegrass Symphony: An original score that blends haunting melodies with Appalachian roots, amplifying the tension and tone.

Join the hunt and wishlist Blue Ridge Hunting on Steam. Prospective hunters can jump into the Blue Ridge Hunting demo today and support development on Kickstarter for a limited time. Stay up to date by following Blue Ridge Hunting on Bluesky, and share your favorite sightings with fellow cryptid enthusiasts in the official Discord server.
