Saber Interactive's ultimate co-op shooter raises the stakes with a huge number of new weapon perks, new challenge mode mutators, new premium skins and more!
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Sept. 25, 2025 – Saber Interactive is proud to unveil the "Heavy Ordnance" Update for World War Z, the ultimate co-op zombie action game. Free for all players today on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, the Heavy Ordnance Update adds new tools and tricks for your zombie-slaying onslaught with the introduction of 24 new heavy weapon perks, as well as 12 new standard weapon perks, three custom frames, six new mutators, a variety of stylish premium cosmetics, and even more to discover!
Leading the charge in today's update is a new feature for World War Z – heavy weapon perks! You can now unlock three perks for each of the game's eight heavy weapons, including the Chainsaw, Flamethrower and Multi-shot Rocket Launcher. As with standard weapon perks, these new heavy weapon perks offer a wide variety of tactical bonuses and trade-offs in combat, introducing new potential choices, risks and rewards to consider when choosing your loadout.
Six new mutators for Challenge Horde Mode are also available in today's Heavy Ordnance Update, including:
- Dead Pirate: Zekes stay alive for a bit of time after headshots
- Paralytic Toxin: You slow down after taking damage in close combat
- Ouch!: When you are grabbed, a random grenade, molotov, or masking grenade explodes
- Sharing is Caring: When you use a medkit, its effect applies to all team members
- Arm Weakness: You cannot use heavy weapons during Zeke waves
- Slot Machine (permanent mutator): Purchasable defense kits become random
Also available today for purchase at £3.99 / €4.99 / $4.99 each are two new weapon skin packs:

Powered by the next generation of Saber's dynamic Swarm Engine™, World War Z lets you play solo with AI squadmates or in co-op for up to four players with full crossplay between PC and consoles.
