Monster-Catching Mayhem Meets Roguelike Deckbuilding in Decktamer - Coming Soon on Steam!

Indie Insanity Unleashed - Assemble Brings a Wild Mix to gamescom 2025

Wiesbaden, Germany – [August 7] – Horizon Edge and Assemble Entertainment invite you to enter the Abyss in Decktamer, a bold new roguelike deckbuilder launching on PC (Steam) in Q4 2025. Decktamer flips traditional deckbuilding on its head: every card is a living, breathing monster captured in battle. That means high-risk strategy, moral dilemmas, and deeply customizable tactics as you fuse, mutate, and evolve your allies to survive in an unforgiving world. Your deck is your team, and you must tame them to fight with them... but if they fall in battle, they're gone for good.

Each creature in your deck acts with its own move every turn, demanding careful planning and tactical precision. As you delve deeper, the Abyss reveals bizarre mutants and oddball abilities that you can transfer across creatures to forge devastating combos and build your strategy as you play.

Gotta Catch 'Em All  (Then Convince Them To Join You)

Decktamer is much more than your typical card game. Developers Horizon Edge are keen to present players with new tactical and moral dilemmas, and not just hand them a deck to work with.

"Decktamer is born from our love for both strategic deck-building games and creature-collection mechanics, with a goal of blending these elements into a roguelike experience that feels both familiar and novel. We wanted to create a game that pushes players to think critically, adapt on the fly, and consider the ethical implications of their choices." - Axel Rueda, Horizon Edge.

What horrors await in the Abyss?

  • Capture monsters in battle to build your card-based team.

  • Deep turn-based combat where every creature acts independently.

  • Your deck is alive, so every loss hurts and every win matters.

  • Transfer abilities between creatures to create unstoppable hybrids.

  • Procedurally generated worlds mean no two playthroughs are the same.

Every horrific new creature could be a threat or an ally - can you tell the difference?
