Is Quentin Tarantino Going To Direct A Star Trek Film?News | DLH.NET The Gaming People

The Hollywood Reporter has reported (I hate writing that) that Quentin Tarantino has a pitch for an upcoming Star Trek film. Further, it sounds like Tarantino has already shot it over to J.J. Abrams, who apparently likes it quite a bit. It is very odd to write that sentence, I promise you.

I love Quentin Tarantino, and although I'm not a rabid Star Trek fan, I still don't know how I feel about any of this. And this is the internet, so anything can happen (or unhappen), but let me hit you with the rest of the details and you can see what you think about it.

After Tarantino pitched his idea to Abrams, Abrams apparently liked it well enough to move forward, at least to some degree. Tarantino and Abrams have plans to get a writers room going and develop the film at Star Trek studio Paramount, with Tarantino reportedly planning on directing it. The studio has yet to comment on the news, but Abrams opinion obviously holds a lot of sway in Hollywood.

Abrams rebooted the franchise in 2009, making the well received titular film, and was also responsible for Star Trek: Into Darkness in 2013. Even though he moved on to Star Wars, he's still a producer on the Star Trek franchise. After this year's Star Wars film, it's been reported that he's working on a prequel to Star Trek, starring Chris Hemsworth as Captain Kirk's (Chris Pine) father, so I'm not sure how the Tarantino news fits in. I'll keep my eye on it, and let you know if we're suddenly going to be seeing trailers for Pulp-Trek.
