It seems like every time you turn around, someone is sticking their hand out for your cash, and the folks over at Cedar games are the latest. On the surface, another survival sim set in the zombie apocalypse wouldn't do a lot to pique my interest, since the premise has been done to death, especially in the survival/sim/RPG genre.

However, Cedar Games, an independent development studio based in Cologne might be onto something with their post-apocalyptic survival RPG, called Z-Alert. The campaign will run until September 6th 2018, and the studio is looking for about 58,000 bucks to fund development costs. Hopefully, they use some of the money to buy a better name. Hey-oooooooooo!

Z-Alert is looking to make it's name on their highly customizable, cartoony illustrated world. Players will find themselves lost and alone in a forest that surrounds a dead city, populated almost exclusively by zombies. I know, I know; the premise isn't anything new, but Cedar games is promising an "unparalleled level of customization," claiming that you'll be able to tailor almost anything to fit your play style, from the mechanics of the game to the arrangement of the interface. The website even promises "never seen before customization of difficulty, UI, RPG mechanics, gameplay options."

"Development is well underway on Z-Alert" said John Nash, chief designer at Cedar Games, "It's an ambitious project and the team has set our sights high, which is why we are asking for help bringing our vision to life. With your support we're looking to create a fresh and colorful take on the survival sim genre."

If you are feeling the premise, you can head over to their kickstarter and cough up a few bucks, but maybe check out the trailer below and their website first to see if this is your kind of thing.
