The Tide Hasn't Turned, Players Are Still Flooding In To Vermintide 2 Over Seven Years After Launch
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, November 25, 2025 - As part of the '10 Years of Tide' celebration, Fatshark made their relentless dark-fantasy hack 'n slash Vermintide 2 temporarily free-to-keep. A move that saw a staggering 5.9 Million downloads during the four day event. What does this mean? Since Vermintide 2's launch back in 2018 more than 25 Million warriors have stood against the Skaven and the Rotblood hordes in the battle for the End Times!
Speaking on the phenomenal ongoing support for the title as total lifetime players reach over 25 million, Design Director Joakim Setterberg expressed their gratitude to the community: "A decade on and players are still charging into Vermintide 2, that's amazing to witness. At Fatshark, our goal has always been to make games that people love to play, and this weekend proved that the passion endures."
In case you missed it, Vermintide 2 also recently received a new content update, Return to the Reik! a fan-favourite mission from Vermintide 1, reignited and re-imagined. Players can once again board the Dawnrunner, diving into expanded, boat-focused gameplay that transforms every skirmish into a cinematic, nostalgic but refreshing co-op experience.
Whilst Vermintide 2 is set in the war ravaged Warhammer universe, it isn't all doom and gloom for players who missed the free-to-keep weekend. As part of the ongoing celebrations the Vermintide 2 base game and DLC's are currently discounted up 90%!
And the 10 Years of Tide celebrations don't end there! Fans will soon recognise a familiar voice resurfacing in Darktide, with Tim Bentnick returning to the franchise as the new voice behind Darktide's Ogryn class. Read more about it very soon!
