Mutant Football League 2 Presents: NFL Week 9 Hellish Highlights

We're officially halfway through the professional football season, so let's look back on the major highlights (and lowlights) of MFL Week 9 — your specially curated recap, presented by Digital Dreams Entertainment's over-the-top "anti-Madden," Mutant Football League 2, which launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on December 10, 2025.

We've got high-scoring brawls, major upsets, devastating injuries, and some unexpected heroes.

MFL Record Field Goal

Cracksumskull Jugulars kicker Cam Little made headlines as he officially took the throne for the longest field goal in MFL history, breaking Bustin Trucker's previously held record by nailing a 68-yard kick perfectly through the uprights.

In the preseason, Little shocked the world as he hit a 70-yard field goal. While his 70-yarder isn't officially an MFL record, it still goes down as the longest field goal in history. Those limbs ain't so little after all.

Snuffalo Thrills Take Down the Karcass City Creeps

The Snuffalo Thrills battled through a fierce matchup against the Karcass City Creeps this weekend. Reigning MFL MVP Mosh Slammen set a franchise record 88.5 percent completion rate, going 23 for 26, totaling 273 passing yards and a touchdown. Check out this BOMB Slammen threw to tight end Bolten Killcaid.

With this 28-21 victory over the Creeps, the Snuffalo Thrills are now 5-0 in their last five regular season matchups against the Karcass City Creeps. Mosh Slammen's odds for back-to-back MFL MVP are now higher than ever!

The Blitzburgh Steelheads Defense Silences the #1 Offense

The Insane Cults have been on a tear this season. Between QB Manuel Clones and RB Gnarlathon Slayer, the Cults are a terrifying force both in the air and on the ground. Well, that was until they traveled to Blitzburgh to face the Steelheads in arguably the most intimidating atmosphere in football.

All-star linebacker B.B. Rott and the Steelheads defense dominated the Cults offense, strip-sacking Clones for a fumble recovery, intercepting the ball three times, and sacking Clones five times for a total of six turnovers. The Steelheads' defense was perhaps the most shocking performance of the week, which silenced a lot of Cults fans.

The Midway Mutants Win a Shootout in Sinsonasty

It's not often that we see nearly 90 points in a single football game, but that was the case for the Mutants vs. Mangles game. In their 47-42 victory, the Midway Mutants combined for a whopping 576 yards, a feat that hasn't been achieved since the 1980 playoff race.

Check out this play from Mutants rookie tight end Coldstone Hateland, in which he brings the BOOM on multiple defenders, then walks it in for a touchdown.

You've got to give credit where credit's due, because Sinsonasty Mangles veteran QB Joe Flacco still managed to put up 470 yards and four touchdowns. This was no cakewalk for the Mutants, but a fierce offense led by Calamity Killiams refused to let up.

S.A.M. Scarnold Makes a Mockery of the Brainwashington Cadavers

It was a bad week to be a Brainwashington Cadavers fan. Microhard Mutilators QB S.A.M. Scarnold led the charge, going on a perfect 16 for 16 completion run in the first half, and putting up an easy 31 points on the road.

To make things worse for Brainwashington, they suffered crucial injuries on both sides of the ball: star quarterback Jaded Scandals' arm was pointing the other way at one point. He's gone. Wide receiver Nuke McCaffeinated broke his collarbone. He's toast. On defense, two of the Cadavers' top cornerbacks also got busted up. Tres Amigos hurt his hip, while Martian Splattermore's tore his ACL. Sayonara, suckers!

About Mutant Football League 2

This is not your parents' football game or a bloated simulation that chases realism at the expense of fun. Mutant Football League 2 is a brutal, darkly comedic 8-on-8 arcade-style action-packed football game. Teams of Mutated Super-Humans, Monstrous Orcs, Skeletal Deadheads, and Armored BruiserBots are pit against each other in fantastical arenas packed with deadly traps and sinister hazards like buzzsaws and giant mutant worms.

This "anti-Madden" blends the pick-up-and-play accessibility of arcade sports games with strategic depth and a buttload of monstrous mayhem. Referees don't just blow calls — they get blown up. Players don't just fumble — they explode into limbs and pink mist.

Mutant Football League 2 Key Features:
  • Bloody Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!: Brace yourself for exploding body parts, comically horrific deaths, and blood splatters that paint the field red. Whether getting blitzed by a rampaging monster or succumbing to a trap-laden end zone, every game is a symphony of unpredictable chaos. Dirty Trick plays even allow teams to commit bannable atrocities; those poor refs... Nothing and no one is safe.

  • Monster Squad: Choose from over 36 MFL teams composed of maniacal mutant versions of pro football superstars — 32 pro-league teams like the Karcass City Creeps, Killadelphia Evils, and Blitzburgh Steelheads, and 4 minor league teams like the Orcs of Hazards and Tokyo Terminators. MFL player cards also unlock historic players who can be signed in Free Agency; so, if you'd prefer to be a special snowflake, you can create an original team and craft a legacy of your own.

  • Mutantmaxxing: Evolve your mutant monstrosities to unlock new armor sets, mutations, and weapons such as chainsaws, shotguns, and more. Hell, you can even use SkillRoid Boosts to give your players special abilities during a game. We ain't natty out here.

  • Doom Field Designer: Design your team's arena, strategically placing lethal hazards and manipulating the weather — buzz saws to trim the competition, fire geysers to turn up the heat, or drop a blizzard on those fools. Make your stadium into the kind of place where only your team loves to play, and everyone else just prays to survive.

  • Dynasty Supreme: Become the ringleader of the freakshow in MFL2's franchise mode. Start at the bottom of the league and claw to the top, turning pro by beating the competition across several seasons and winning Mayhem Bowls. Draft rookies every season and train them up to build a powerful roster.

  • The Voice of the MFL: Tim Kitzrow, the iconic voice of your favorite sports franchises — NBA Jam, NFL Blitz, NHL Hitz, and MLB Slugfest — commentates MFL2, reciting plays and talking all kinds of smack. BOOMSHAKALAKA!
We hope you enjoyed this week's MFL updates. Stay tuned for more ridiculous recaps and monstrously mean MFL commentary in the coming weeks as we approach Mutant Football League 2's launch.
