GameDev Learning Drop aims to make a tangible, positive impact on the industry
Nicosia, Cyprus (October 14, 2025) | Today Owlcat Games revealed GameDev Learning Drop, a collaborative initiative wherein participating developers and publishers share educational resources like free tools and software, online courses, masterclasses and tutorials, and much more with the game development community at large. The goal is to create a comprehensive list of resources that supports the growth of game industry professionals while also lowering the industry's barrier to entry.
"We're extremely proud to launch this endeavor," said Andrey Tsvetkov, Head of Publishing at Owlcat Games. "A rising tide truly lifts all ships. We firmly believe that showing support for open knowledge fosters collaboration and connection, which we feel is something the industry could use more of right now."
This initiative aims to create a curated, open-source repository that's freely accessible to anyone via LinkedIn and Owlcat Games' dedicated webpage. Any developer or publisher can submit material to the database, where it's then reviewed, categorized, and curated to ensure the quality of the contributions. After the submissions are vetted, they're formatted into a structured, user-friendly resource available to the entire game dev community.
The initiative already has a robust list of content available, with over 350 learning resources for those looking to strengthen their skills in game design, programming, narrative design, project management, and more. The team is also dedicated to maintaining and updating the repository regularly — keeping the list fresh with ongoing contributions and periodic reviews.
The GameDev Learning Drop initiative currently has five participating studios: Owlcat Games, Midwest Games, Fireshine Games, Gaijin Entertainment, and 11 bit studios. The team hopes to expand the list of contributors and invites anyone interested in joining to reach out about getting involved.
Publishers and developers interested in contributing to the GameDev Learning Drop initiative can contact Owlcat Games at contact@owlcat.games or submit a recommended resource via online form on the official webpage.
