Cult favorite psychological horror game Dreamcore's latest expansion - Playrooms - out today on all platforms
Available as a free update for anyone who owns Dreamcore before June 17th!
Buenos Aires, Argentina, June 7th, 2025 - Indie developer Montraluz, in partnership with publisher Tlön Industries, has just released an all new chapter in their cult favorite surreal first-person, body-cam psychological horror game Dreamcore. Shadow dropped as a surprise at today's Latin American Games Showcase, this latest episode - Playrooms - is available on all platforms as a free update to anyone who already owns the game.
Those following Dreamcore's development may recall that Playrooms was initially planned with a June 17th launch, but we wanted to surprise players - and LAGS viewers - by offering it 10 days early.
Since Dreamcore now contains 50% more content, the cost of the base game will rise to $11.99 / £9.99 / €11.79. However, that won't take effect until June 17th, so anyone who buys Dreamcore before June 17th will receive Playrooms and all subsequent chapters at no additional cost!
For the next 10 days Dreamcore still costs $8.99 / £7.49 / €8.79 on all platforms. While it will increase in price as more episodes are added, they will remain free updates to anyone who has already purchased the game. Two more Dreamcore chapters are planned to follow in the next year.
Playrooms is a massive new expansion placing players in an eerie rec room combining cloudy recollections of nurseries, play pens, gymnasiums, and preschools. It combines the jungle gyms, paintings, and play structures of one's earliest years, rearranged into something quietly uncanny and utterly unsettling.
"Dreamcore has always been about exploring spaces that feel intrinsically unsettling, even if there aren't any literal monsters trying to kill you or 'game over' screens," said Valentín Iribarren, Game Creator at Montraluz. "Playrooms allowed us to really stretch our imaginations with that concept, reflecting on the inherent spookiness of being a child when the shadow of a coatrack in your bedroom could look like the worst of what your imagination could come up with."
More about Dreamcore: Dreamcore sets players loose to explore a multitude of extraordinary, expansive worlds based around labyrinths of liminal spaces. Loosely inspired by the "backrooms" memes, Dreamcore offers a one-of-a-kind experience to probe these nonlinear realms, with each world featuring a unique puzzle players must solve in order to locate its exit.
Developed in Unreal Engine 5, each of Dreamcore's worlds offers a hazy, twisted memory of the 1980s, complete with the grainy aesthetic of found footage VHS tapes. Navigate intricately linked structures and captivating landscapes, where every environment encourages unparalleled adventures and exploration. Each map presents a vast range of possibilities, delivering entirely distinct experiences.
