Co-op Roguelite Shooter, SWAPMEAT, will  Launch in 2025 for PC and macOS via Steam; Next Meat Lab Playtest Begins May 15


Today, independent developer One More Game revealed that SWAPMEAT, the co-op roguelite third-person shooter where you swap body parts with the alien weirdos you fight to steal their abilities, will launch in 2025 for PC and macOS via Steam.

The developer also shared the dates for what will be one of the final Meat Lab playtests for the game prior to launch. Running from May 15 through 22, players can sign up for Meat Lab 5 access at playSWAPMEAT.com to experience the game's delightfully squishy – and surprisingly deep – meat-swapping gameplay mechanic. Aspiring Meat Scientists are encouraged to add SWAPMEAT to their Steam wishlist today.

The Meat Lab 5 open playtest will run from May 15 at 10 a.m. PT through May 22 at 5 p.m. PT. Players who refer three friends will get guaranteed access for their entire squad (while supplies last).

The latest updates and improvements in the beefy new Meat Lab 5 build include:

  • Welcome to Solar System 2
    • Take on an all-new Mutant Boss for the Mutant Space Wrestlers in Space Federation Championship Edition Belt
    • One new biome and three new planets
  • A fancy new-and-improved HUD
  • Spicy new combat changes
    • Weapon Switching
    • In-Run Weapon Upgrades
    • Updated Active Reload system
    • Elemental Damage & Status Effect revamp
    • Improvements to many Abilities' overall feel
    • Lots of Ability, Weapon, Mutation, and Artifact balance
  • Gathering – You'll now encounter Fish Rifts, Mineral Veins, and Ancient Technology that can be harvested to unlock and upgrade things on your ship. Careful, though, you will need to successfully extract from the planet if you intend to keep your haul
  • Materials Trader – Trader Mike will join you on your ship early on in Solar System 1 to offer you deals, purchase your extra goods, and ASK ABOUT YOUR EXPENSES
