Microsoft just announced that the 2018 October update is ready for Xbox One, and we are fitting to tell you what the deal is.

The update will go out worldwide, and includes new, "diverse" Xbox Avatars, support for five new languages in the narrator tool, and what's arguably most exciting is the new Xbox skill for Cortana and Alexa, which lets you tell your Xbox what to do with Cortana/Alexa enabled devices. This will allow you to do all kinds of cool stuff with a simple voice command, like turning on your Xbox, starting a game, taking screenshots, powering off your system and more. So, for example, you can walk into the room and say, for example, "Alexa, turn on my Xbox and launch The Sims 4. On second thought, that game sucks, turn back off," and boom! Now you're not playing the Sims 4! Technology rules!

The update also hooks you up with Dolby Vision HDR, which, provided you have a TV that supports it, will give you enhanced HDR images, so everything looks extra tight. Unfortunately, the Netflix app is pretty much all that supports this feature, but you can expect it to become more inclusive as time goes on.

The update is available now for all Xbox consoles.
