Legend of Zelda is a classic, and anyone who is anyone knows that's a scientific fact. We also know that, while not on par with the difficulty of, say, Ninja Gaiden, it's still a hard ass game that challenges your reflexes and your patience. I remember it taking forever just to find the shield, and then trying to get anything but my old wooden sword was also a challenge of somewhat epic proportions. I also recall, with zero fondness, my brother and I buying up a ton of bombs and taking turns laying them on everything we could find, in the hopes of discovering a new passageway. Don't get me started on all the time wasted pushing on shrubs from all angles.
Now, in a surprise release by Nintendo, we have some new/old releases for online subscribers and a bonus: Solomon's Key, NES Open Tournament Golf and Super Dodge Ball, plus a new version of The Legend of Zelda, called Legend Of Zelda: Living the Life of Luxury!
Before you get too excited, this isn't really a "new" Zelda; more like a watered down version of the old classic. In Living the Life of Luxury (couldn't they have come up with a better subtitle?), you start the game with more than your sweet tunic; you'll begin with "...all equipment, including the White Sword, the Magical Shield, the Blue Ring and even the Power Bracelet." This is supposed to give newcomers (who the hell could possibly be a newcomer to Zelda?) a fighting chance at taking down Gannon, but if you beat this mode, you'll unlock yet another mode, called "second quest", which promises to be more difficult, from strengthening your enemies to moving shops around.
