Alright, alright, let's try to keep things in perspective here. First off, we knew this was going to happen, right? We knew it was bound to happen just like the Robocop reboot was bound to happen. And let's remember that this is Netflix, and generally speaking, Netflix has made some great stuff.  Also, this isn't a movie, but a live-action series, so there's a lot more time for character and plot development. Also, the original creators are going to be involved, so that's good.

That said, the pain is still so very, very real from the M. Night adaptation. Sure, that project was said to have been hampered hardcore by the studio, budget, time restrictions and writing, editing and directing problems., but my god, what a bomb. Just terrible. This time, there's some room for hope since the original creators will be in on the action.  DiMartino and Konietzko made the following statement concerning the live-action show:

“We’re thrilled for the opportunity to helm this live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. We can’t wait to realize Aang’s world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build upon everyone’s great work on the original animated series and go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Netflix is wholly dedicated to manifesting our vision for this retelling, and we’re incredibly grateful to be partnering with them.”

Here's a pic of some concept art to tide you over until doomsday.

We can only cling to the hope that this time, we won't get fooled again.
