Assassin's Creed Odyssey is headed our way in a few weeks, and oddly, the developers have chosen one of the less exciting titles to remake for season pass purchasers, in addition to two new story arcs for the main title. That's right, we are getting Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered.

Assassin’s Creed 3 was exciting when it was announced, as bringing the series to the middle of the American Revolutionary War was a cool idea. You played Connor, a half English, half Native American who had to contend with the Templars and a war, and the combination of the time period and his heritage was a cool idea; Native Americans have always been tied to trackers, and stalking soldiers from the treetops or sneaking through a snow covered forest to murder everyone was pretty sweet. The game got good reviews, but I don't think it will stand the test of time, despite the studio clearly thinking it will. Something about Assassin's Creed III getting 4K resolution and some tweaks to the gameplay mechanics just isn't all that thrilling to me.

In addition to the remaster (which will also be sold as a standalone title, if anyone is interested), gamers with the pass will get 2 episodic Assassin's Creed Odyssey stories, Legacy of the First Blade, which should arrive in December, and The Fate of Atlantis set for spring 2019. The series will take players back to the days of Sparta and Athens, and there will be a war going on between the two heavyweights, in addition to the usual Templar tomfoolery.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be released on October 5.
