There's technically a new model of PS4 out there, but if you buy one today, it's a crapshoot whether or not you'll get one, and further, you might not even notice.

Most likely, a PS4 bought today will get you a variation of the CUH-2100 model, but soon, that is going to change, as Dualshockers just reported that Sony has rolled out a CUH-2200 model.

According to the Dualshockers report, PlayStation model number signify changes to the model (duh), with the last two digits specifying which region the console belongs to. What's more important is the first number. Significant hardware revisions are noted by the first digit changing, for example when the slim was renumbered with the model CUH-1XXX to CUH-2XXX. Those numbers often signify a minor hardware change, which is what Dualshockers is saying is most likely happening here, but reportedly, these new "versions" have the same dimensions, weight, and wattage, so it's possible this is some kind of manufacturing change on the inside.

We sent out an inquiry to Sony to see what exactly changed, but we'll have to see if we even get a response.

Something tells me that if Sony didn't make a big deal out of this, we won't be hearing anything at all.
