Indie devs Gaddy Games just announced that after three years of development, their sci-fi sandbox-survival-strategy-game (that's a mouthful), Dig or Die is out of early access and on Steam now.
Dig or Die blends strategy elements and crafting with a constantly changing world, where players will grapple with survival and defense gameplay mechanics. You'll be tasked with overcoming the world's natural obstacles, which are constantly reacting to your presence, and that includes the native creatures that dwell in the hostile world.
The plot centers on an employee (you) of CRAFT & Co., a space exploration agency. After your latest contract goes off the rails, you find yourself stranded on a distant planet. Your objective is to establish a base and accumulate resources in order to build a spaceship and find your way back home. When the daylight fades, the hostile planet comes alive, as massive hordes of monsters come pouring out of the woodwork, all quite pissed off by your intrusion. You'll have to craft and create your defenses and make barricades, turrets and more in order to protect yourself against your angry alien enemies.
In addition to the current version's features, the full release also includes 3 brand new game modes (Under the Sea, Sky World, Base Defense) and 16 random environmental events like earthquakes, floods and meteor showers, which will happen once a day and directly impact gameplay.
