Fresh from the 2017 Game Awards, it was a night of celebrating badass games of the past year, and getting mad hyped about the games that are coming out in 2018 and beyond.
World War Z is one such upcoming game, and luckily, Saber Interactive (of Unreal Championship and Timeshift fame) are only like 15 years late to the zombie party. The game is definitely based on the movie and not the book, because a game full of calm interviews would not exactly be the heart-pounding shoot 'em up that Saber Interactive wants to make.
World War Z will be a co-op, frenetic, 3rd person shooter, and boy, are they going to have to do something special to get everyone on board. This game has already been made like 100 times over, but perhaps the co-op will be revolutionary, or the fast zombies will be extra scary. Here's to hoping, cuz the movie was kind of boring and basing your game off a middling film is always a gamble.
World War Z will be available for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2018. The trailer shows off some environments, cities and a little bit of the combat, along with some voice-over work. "We tried to stop them with walls... we tried to stop them with cold... now... we will try to stop them with, uh, machine guns."
