New Voidwood Gameplay Shows Why Talking Can Get You Killed
New footage offers a closer look at the proximity-chat co-op survival horror game, playable for the first time today at PAX West
Santa Barbara, California - September 4th, 2026 - Santa Barbara Games has released new gameplay footage from Voidwood, its upcoming PC co-op survival horror game where communication can help keep your friends alive, or tell the things hunting you exactly where you are.
The new clips offer the clearest look yet at Voidwood in action, from exploring and scavenging through its colorful cursed forest to the increasingly dangerous scramble to survive once darkness falls.

"One of the things we really wanted to do with Voidwood was make team communication something you need to survive, but also your greatest liability," said Shawn Seibert, Founder & Creative Director at Santa Barbara Games. "You have to group up, you have to whisper, and then at times you have to split up, and you can't communicate. This footage is the closest we can get you to what that actually feels like without handing you a headset."
More about Voidwood: Voidwood is a 1-4 player co-op survival horror game, where your voice can save your friends or give them all away. By day, you scavenge an inviting, cursed forest. By night, you survive the hunt. Push your luck, go deeper, and speak carefully. The forest is listening.
By nightfall, the forest summons The Beast, an apex predator that hunts by sound and follows the noise straight to you. You cannot fight it. Not yet.
No two nights are the same. Before returning, regroup at camp, unlock new tools, and get one step closer to escaping an ever-changing, unpredictable forest.
