TALEWORLDS LAUNCHES ITS BIGGEST-EVER MODDING COMPETITION WITH €30,000 PRIZE POOL
New War Sails Modding Kit enables modding creators to build conversion mods, original ships and seaborne village raid scenes
ANKARA, Turkey (August 14, 2026) — TaleWorlds Entertainment today launched the War Sails Modding Competition, its largest official modding initiative to date, inviting creators from around the world to compete for a share of a €30,000 cash prize pool.
Supported by Nexus Mods and ModDB, the competition invites creators to expand and reimagine the naval experience introduced in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord - War Sails across three categories: the Conversion Mod Contest, 3D Art Contest and Scene Design Contest.
Whether creating an entirely new world, designing a distinctive vessel or building an unforgettable coastal battlefield, modders are encouraged to experiment, push creative boundaries and bring bold new ideas to War Sails.
The competition launches alongside the recently released War Sails Modding Kit, giving creators access to the tools needed to develop new experiences using the expansion's naval travel, ship combat and coastal warfare systems.
These contests seek to celebrate the creativity, ambition and dedication of the modding community, whose work continues to expand the possibilities of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord and enrich the experience for players worldwide. It also reflects TaleWorlds' long-term commitment to supporting both Bannerlord and War Sails.

Conversion Mod Contest
Participants are invited to create total or partial conversion mods using War Sails' naval features. Creators can bring naval gameplay to different historical periods or different worlds, and introduce new naval gameplay mechanics.
Released and unreleased projects are eligible and must be presented through a video Mod Showcase on YouTube.
The Conversion Mod Contest offers €21,000 in cash prizes.
3D Art Contest
Creators are invited to design and implement an original ship for War Sails, bringing their own ideas to life through 3D modelling, texturing and design. Whether grounded in history, inspired by fantasy or drawn from entirely new worlds, this contest encourages creators to push their imagination and showcase what's possible.
The 3D Art Contest offers €3,500 in cash prizes.
Scene Design Contest
Participants are invited to create Seaborne Village Raid scenes depicting armies arriving by sea and attacking coastal villages directly from the shoreline.
Entries should support a natural transition from sea to land, with dynamic landing areas, contested disembarkation points, tactical terrain and believable coastal environments.
The Scene Design Contest offers €3,500 in cash prizes.
Community Voting
Following the submission period, the community will be invited to vote for their favourite entry in each category, with an additional €2,000 in cash prizes awarded through the Community Choice Awards.

ABOUT MOUNT & BLADE II: BANNERLORD
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord combines action, RPG, and strategy in a sandbox world where every player creates its own story in the fictitious continent of Calradia. This follow-up, prequel to Warband, takes place 200 years before the Calradia we know from previous games. The Calradian Empire is on the verge of collapse, and several factions fight to control the remains of the old empire that once dominated the entire continent. In front of them, other factions try to take advantage of the chaotic situation to gain power. Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord was released on Early Access on March 30th, 2020, and since then has gathered universal acclaim by players and reviewers alike for its deep gameplay and engaging sandbox experience, having received numerous updates with new gameplay features over the course of these months. Most recently, the War Sails expansion brought naval warfare to Calradia for the first time, allowing players to command powerful ships, engage in sea battles, and lead mighty fleets across the high seas. War Sails was released in November 2025.
