Polish game developers LabLike are attempting something new in the mobile market – The Magic Flute is a puzzle game based on Mozart's work of the same name, featuring a cool new artistic style and some interesting gameplay mechanics. This could well be the first game ever based on an opera. The Magic Flute is coming to iOS this September – check out the trailer below.

LabLike worked closely with Amon Miyamoto, the stage director of the recent performances of the Magic Flute that took place at the Tokyo Nikkai Opera Theatre. The game itself is based on the settings and design from the production. Lead Designer Olaf Morelewski has stated that he hopes this new medium can provide the same kind of unpretentious fun that the opera represented back in Mozart's day. Miyamoto's production used a video game as its basic concept, and now he is thrilled that it's being mad einto an actual game.

The Magic flute allows players to step into the role of the fearless young prince Tamino as he embarks on his quest to save Pamina, daughter of the Queen of the Night, from the hands of the mysterious Sarastro. With the help of the Magic Flute given to him by the queen's three servants, Tamino is subjected to three tests and must prove his loyalty, courage, and rectitude to save the princess. But in a world where nothing is as it seems, rescuing Pamina is just the beginning of the story that unfolds.

The Magic Flute is a puzzle game based on simple, yet powerful "slide" gameplay mechanics. The goal is to build a path and exit the level. To build the path you will need to slide tiles, avoid cracked ones which can collapse, guards that will try to capture you,  various blockades and a deadly serpent. Sliding tiles is possible both vertically and horizontally and each level can be finished in multiple ways. The only limits are your own spatial imagination and logical thinking.
